George has been performing professionally for over 30
years, and has been the leader of Confetti for
the past 15 years. He began playing drums professionally at age 6. His
first performances were playing drums in his father's jazz/standards group,
the Carlo Aparo Quartet. George has a wide variety of musical influences,
and sounds superb playing any style of music. Jazz music is his true love.
He is also a big fan of the 1970's jazz/rock band Steely Dan.
Prior to Confetti, George performed
with many different groups in the Chicagoland area. He spent a number
of years as the drummer for the Chicago-based, national recording artist
Josie Aiello. He was a permanent member of the Wedding/All Occasion band,
Bare Necessities along with Dennis prior to joining Confetti.
Concurrent with his Confetti membership, he
has also been a drummer in the PromiseLand band from the Community Church
of Willow Creek and the jazz trio Essence of Jazz.
Some key performance engagements have included the Park
West, Taste of Chicago, Fest Italian and Drury Lane as well as an appearance
on the Phil Donahue Show with Sammy Davis Jr.. He has also performed in
bands that were opening acts for Count Basie, Tony Bennett, and Barbara
Eden. George has also been teaching percussion throughout his career.
